As a part of our simple machine study, we explored levers.
Teams were given a block, ruler, and half a cardboard tube. They needed to set up the three objects to simulate a lever, fulcrum and load. Next, they labeled the three parts. Finally, they came to the assumption that it is easier to lift a heavy load when the fulcrum is a bit closer to the load when compared to far away.
Upon our return from our holiday break, we reflected on our academic goals. We thought deeply about our strengths and the goals we have for ourselves in 2015. Following our goal decisions, we created pictures of ourselves in party hats holding our written goals. Stop by and take a look above our hooks to see our personal goals for ourselves!
Some of us have already started to work toward making them come true!
Following a read of The Night Tree by Eve Bunting, we made birdseed feeders out of cardboard tubes, peanut butter and birdseed. In a matter of 15 minutes, we had 6 chickadees enjoying a snack right outside our window!
It was quite a messy project!
We enjoyed watching the birds enjoy their holiday gift!
