iPad Teamwork

We're learning together on the iPads!

We played a game called "Bluster" that helped us to find and learn about synonyms.
Look for the app at home or the library - it's free!

Love...

We LOVE to learn together!

Thank you for the creative building idea, Alyssa!   :o)

Personal Narratives

We have completed our first personal narrative!
The learners transformed from planners to writers to editors and finally, illustrators!
We have enjoyed reading them during literacy time.

Geology Learning

As a close to our unit, we created a non-fiction poster to show what we have learned about the layers of the Earth.  We included a title, labels, and captions to share our newly learned facts.
The second grade worked beautifully together!

Our hard work will be up for you at Open House!

We also wrote geology acrostic poems using our non-fiction resources.

Level of Hardness Experiment

Following our rock share and exploration, we tested their hardness.
We use our fingernail, a penny and a nail.

We looked carefully to see if there were any scratches, chips or evidence of being scratched.

We used a table to keep track of our rock data.

Geology Study

We have completed our unit on Geology!
Here is a sneak peak of what we did to help us learn about the rocks and earth around us...
First, we shared the rocks we found in our neighborhoods.

Next, we sorted them by different characteristics.

We looked very closely for minerals.

Then, we learned about the three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.
We observed examples of each.

Be sure to ask YOUR geologist about the layers of the Earth!
